Around the time I was applying to college, I happened to find a video that I had shot of my Barbies when I was maybe 5 years old. I guess I always knew I wanted to work in movies. I was fortunate enough to have parents that allowed me to go to Art School (College of Santa Fe, RIP), where I walked in thinking I wanted be a trailer editor (just like Cameron Diaz in the movie The Holiday) and I walked out wanting to Produce (thank you Hank and Jill Rogerson). I thought I had a job right out of college with person that turned out to be con artist and then began cold calling every production company whose number I could find. A panicked call to my Aunt who lived in Brentwood asking if there was anyone in her neighborhood that I could get coffee for, led to a family friend of theirs who happened to be looking for Post Production PA at Jerry Bruckheimer Films. I was upfront with the Post Coordinator and 1st Assistant Editor I interviewed with. I did not want to be an Editor but I knew this was an incredible opportunity to learn if they would let me try. Two movies later, I convinced nearly everyone at JBF that I was ready to move over to Production and be a Set PA. That transition movie, if you will, garnered 3 different job titles - Office PA, Set PA and then I was called back to Post to finish the movie as the Post Coordinator (I was on that one for nearly 2 years). I had felt that fate brought me back to Post but then a terrible box office situation took that opportunity away from me almost as quickly as I had got it. Six months later, I interviewed to be the "New Erica" with Executive Producer/Unit Production Manager Barry Waldman. 12 years later, we are still working together. They say it's time to move on from a job when you are no longer learning but I continue to learn everyday. I am a part of a team and my hard work is rewarded with more opportunities to grow in this business. We just wrapped our 10th movie together, my 3rd as Associate Producer.
